Last week a number of companies joined our Speed Recruitment event in the Business school at Royal Holloway. I would like to express a huge thank you to the representatives from Cherith Simmons, Enterprise Rent a car, FDM, GE Power, Kerry, Menzies LLP, RSM and Twentyai for taking the time to speak to our students about the placement opportunities available at their companies. Tables for Amazon, Awin, Pfizer and Rolls Royce were also manned by current Year in Business students who had been on placement with the companies. There was a real buzz in the Moore building throughout the evening.
This was the first time since Covid that we have been able to run this event in person, and it is always a popular format. Small groups of students moved around the room every 6 minutes talking to different companies about the range of placements available and seeing if there was a suitable match. When the bell rang the students moved on! It was good to see the 2nd year students' enthusiasm to secure a placement and the companies gave positive feedback about the students’ engagement levels and the quality of the questions asked
Students heard about a range of positions including Accountancy/ Finance, Business support, Management trainee, Marketing, Recruitment, Sales.
It was particularly pleasing to see Lily Burke who is currently undertaking an HR placement at Enterprise Rent a Car, join Paul Hanrahan, the Talent Acquisition manager, to talk about the openings at Enterprise. Matthew Lappin (tax placement at RSM) and Ahmad Pirzad (Finance placement at GE Power) both joined their managers to talk about their placement experiences, as did Rahul and Giulio who are currently working at Cherith Simmons. A massive thank you also to Needa Khan (Awin), Kamelia Yanev (Rolls Royce), Julia Janton (Pfizer) and Praveen Mendis (Amazon) for taking time out to inspire the younger year YIBs.
The evening concluded with pizza and more conversation. In previous years, a number of our students went onto secure placements on the back of attending similar events. We look forward to hearing how they get on this year!
If any other companies are interested in advertising placements to our business students please contact MN-YIB@rhul.ac.uk. Students undertake paid placements of between 9 – 12 months and are available to start work anytime between June – September.
