Graduation : July 2023

It was a pleasure to support the Graduation Ceremonies for the Business and Management students on Thursday 17th July.  The Ceremony was held within a magnificent graduation marquee on the lawns of Royal Holloway, followed by celebrations in the beautiful Founders’ Quad. It was a delight to see a long line of Year in Business students progress onto stage to collect their certificates in front of The Provost and Pro Vice Chancellor, Head of School, Academic staff, friends and family. It was also very pleasing to hear from the Student Orator who was chosen to share their journey and reflection wth their peers and guests at the ceremony. Farah Hanif gave an inspiring speech and we were grateful for the words she spoke about the support offered to her by the Placement staff at the University.

The Year in Business students have so much to celebrate and they should be so proud of everything they have achieved during the last 4 years. Of particular note are their placement years which were secured and started during the uncertainties of Covid. Some Graduates are undertaking further study while others are returning to companies where they undertook their placement year. These companies include Adobe, Deloitte, GSK, HPE, Microsoft, PwC and SAP. A number of other YIBs have used their placement experience to help them secure graduate roles with different companies including Aurum Search Limited, Charity Link, CW Publishing Group, Farrer & Co, Gartner, LCW, Mars, McLaren Applied, Mondrian Investment partners, Morgan Stanley, PwC, Sky, Smart Automation, Softcat, Trade Republic (Berlin) and Unilever.

We are grateful for all the effort these students have made to help support younger year YIBs and build the community, whether by participating in YIB events/ workshops or signing up to be a Year in Business Mentor. A specific thank you to the following YIB Mentors: Oscar Amirmansour, Carlos De Mendioloagoitia Mazon, Urielle Fidegnon, Tanhiyat Islam, Julia Janton, Haris Karim, Needa Khan, Sanjana Misquitta, Lili Pellet, Laura Cavarra, Tristan Southwell, Aish Suntharajah.

Congratulations to all and I am sorry if I was not able to catch up with you individually after the Ceremony  Do keep in touch with us in the Year in Business team – your stories of where your placements have led you are inspiring to the younger year YIBs!
