Speed Recruitment event : 2nd March

On Monday evening we ran a Speed Recruitment event for our School of Business and Management students on the Year in Business programme who are seeking placements in 2020/21. I would like to express my thanks to representatives from Asahi Europe, Cherith Simmons, GE, Surrey Chamber of Commerce, Take Two Interactive and VMWare for attending our event at Royal Holloway.

It was fantastic to see a number of Royal Holloway YIBs who are currently out on placement joining their company tables to talk to the 2nd year students about the opportunities available. We have 3 students at Staines based VMWare and all 3, Isha, Wiktoria and Charles were in attendance talking enthusiastically about their roles. Majurra is currently undertaking a Marketing placement at GE Healthcare and shared her experiences, as did Heather who is working as a Finance/ Supply chain placement student at Asahi Europe.

Small groups of students moved around the room every 8 minutes talking to different companies about the range of placements available and seeing if there was a suitable match. When they bell rang the students moved on! They heard about a range of vacancies including Audit, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Sales and Analyst positions.

Katharine Radford and Karen Lensik from the Placements' Place Office also manned tables, providing information to the students regarding 1:1s and targeted vacancies and answering the questions raised by the students.

The students who attended were clearly very enthusiastic in their desire to secure a placement and it was good to hear the positive feedback from the Companies about the students they had talked to and the sorts of questions they had asked. This is the fourth year of running this type of event and the format works very well. In previous years we have found that a number of our YIBs have been able to secure placements on the back of attending our Spring Speed Recruitment event. We look forward to hearing how the current 2nd years get on!

More details of the vacancies can be found on the Year in Business moodle page (targeted placements) and the weekly vacancy bulletin. If students have any questions please contact Karen or Katharine in the Placements' Place office.
